Most would agree that our photographs are the most precious things we own on paper. Photos stand as reminders and evidence of our past; the events, the relationships, and the emotions that define our lives. However, photos are not perfect. Not only are they fragile and impermanent, but they can only capture a single moment, which we will later use to represent so much more.

Severe damage is common among our parents' and grandparents' photographs. Improper storage, acidic albums and adhesives, light damage, wrinkles and tears were almost inevitable among these photos for lack of knowledge and lack of appreciation for their value to future generations. This image was stuck to the back of another photo. When pulled apart the back of the top photo left its mark. When held up to the light the image was visible with its unusual spelling of tobacco. We were able to fill in the gap just as it was in the original.
